Helping Fairfax County School Children

Collect for Kids is a public private partnership that provides local children from economically challenged families with the school supplies they need to begin the school year on equal footing with their peers.

Some 90,000 supply kits and backpacks have been distributed in the program’s first three years, and donations climbed 20%  year over year from 2010 to 2014.

• Anyone can donate Cash.

• Backpacks are donated by citizens

• Calculators are donated by businesses.

More than two dozen local organizations from across Fairfax County raise funds, purchase supplies and stuff backpacks. Their efforts result in help for more than 60% of children who are eligible for free and reduced price lunches.

Dedicated Partners Create Opportunity

Collective buying power allows “Collect for Kids” to turn $1 of donations into nearly $3 worth of supplies. A full backpack is assembled for as little as $20.
